WHO AM I?
My name is Missy. I’m just your average pain-in-the-arse baby-boomer who’s been battling dysautonomia for a long time. I created this site on April 1, 2021, in the midst of a serious relapse, in order to reach out to others struggling with this condition. If you read my story in Journeying Through Hell & Back you may see something of yourself in there & perhaps won’t feel so isolated – as I used to, and still do at times. NO. MORE. ISOLATION.
There is a FORUM on the site where you can connect with others who may be in the same place you are right now, some who are worse off, and some who are doing much better. Whatever the stage we can all learn from each other.
On the LINKS page we provide pertinent information on dysautonomia & its related disorders. You may come across some data you haven’t seen before that might be helpful. If you’re able to add to the knowledge base within the FORUM please do – as long as you’re talking about yourself & not attempting to give medical advice. (We know you’re not; they just make us say it.) Contact us to have something added to the LINKS page.
WHERE I WAS. WHERE I AM. WHERE I’M HEADED.
As I stated before, I have been engaged in a life or death struggle with dysautonomia for most of my life. The first shot in this war may have been fired in 1967 (3rd grade). There was a brief skirmish in 1969 (6th grade). Minor battles ensued throughout the next three decades. War was officially declared in 1997 with a quasi-armistice partially honored from 2005-2010.
Peripheral defense lines were breached twice in spring of 2011 with deeper incursions proceeding in early 2013. Adversary launched a major, ongoing offensive in late December 2015, culminating in a crushing campaign from March 1, 2018 through December 2019, from which this warrior has yet to come back.
So be it. Let the enemy do what it will. Victory is mine, regardless of any appearances to the contrary. I will defeat my invisible opponent. I’d probably slap its sniveling face (if it had one), or my hero isn’t Four-Star General George S. Patton, Jr.!
